Foundation & Host
The ‘Piz Mitgel Val Surses Foundation’ aims to preserve the socially and historically valuable Hotel Piz Mitgel, which is characteristic of the local landscape, to safeguard it for future generations and lead it into the future.
There are things that must not be lost and are worth working together to preserve. This stems from the belief that Hotel Piz Mitgel should continue to remain open as a hospitable establishment for everyone, and in the future, cultural events should be able to take place in the Art Nouveau hall – a testimony from the era of emerging tourism at the beginning of the twentieth century. With your support as a donor, we ensure that the story of Piz Mitgel continues.
We would like to express our gratitude to Regina and the late Seppi Waldegg, who devoted over six decades to serving Savognin and its hotel guests. We are delighted to continue the hospitality of the ‘Waldeggs’.

Hotel director.
As the hotel director, I am pleased to have held this position for over a year, since the winter season of 2022/23. With comprehensive experience in the hospitality industry, I remain true to the principle of ‘simple yet heartfelt’ hospitality.
After completing business school, I began my career at the renowned ‘Storchen’ hotel in Zurich, a five-star establishment. I gained experience in accounting, F&B operations, event organization, and guest services. My educational journey culminated at the prestigious ‘Belvoir’ hotel management school in Zurich.
Later, I took on various roles in the industry, including working as a chef at the popular restaurant ‘Le Poisson’ and as a waiter and bartender. “Le Poisson’ is part of the esteemed ‘Glärnischhof’ Hotel in Zurich. I also had the privilege of managing the ‘HYVE’ Hotel in Basel with 160 beds as part of my role within the ‘Swiss Quality Hotels’ chain, comprising 60 hotels.
I continue to strive to enhance the guest experience at Hotel Piz Mitgel. Our philosophy of ‘simple yet heartfelt’ shapes our approach in the outstanding kitchen and a warm, attentive atmosphere. My goal is to create an inviting environment that offers a diverse culinary selection for locals and guests alike. Playing a crucial role in this endeavor is the restaurant manager, Thomas Nussbaumer from Parsonz.
I thank you for the opportunity to be part of this journey and look forward to continuing the excellence. My main goal remains to provide every guest at Hotel Piz Mitgel with an unforgettable stay.
